Eljaytee gets the season rolling

It has been fantastic to see the horses running so well since the start of the turf season, led by a 25/1 victory for Eljaytee and Faye McManoman at Yarmouth.

Eljaytee has been a horse who has required a little patience but his owner Dan Tunmore and his family have been very happy to give him that and he rewarded them with an impressive seasonal debut at their home track.

There have also been encouraging placed runs from Tarbat Ness, who was beaten just a neck when second in gruelling conditions at Redcar on his first run of the season. Beryl Burton was also second at Windsor on her first start of the year, while Das Kapital was third in a three-way photo on his first start of the year at Doncaster. Hopefully all three will be winning before too long.

Tarbat Ness returns to the track this week at Pontefract where he will take on Dereham, who is aiming to defend his crown in the Pontefract Marathon. Loyalties will be very divided in that race!
